Great Comfort Food.
Haven't been to McGirks in a while we were unhappy with our previous experience. However friends talked us into trying it again, and we were happily surprised. Split a Buffalo egg roll to start with, they were delicious, loved the presentation and the sauce. I had a "Hog" wing for my entree and it was equally delicious, so tender and flavorful. The baked beans on the side left a little to be desired but I didn't really mind. My wife had a steak salad, she ordered it rare and it was cooked to her liking. She really enjoyed it but for a carnivore for like me it didn't seem like enough steak.
If you haven't tried McGirks recently or like us had a previous bad experience I recommend you return it was a wonderful evening for us.
Not so traditional Irish. McGirk's is an Irish bar for the "Everyone's Irish on St. Patricks Day" crowd. It gets VERY crowded and if you are willing to wait you can get a table. The food is good, drinks can be a little pricey if you are getting a mixed drink. Good selection of beer. They wait staff are nice when you are seated. The bartenders are quick once your noticed, but you have to get through to the bar first. There are a lot of locals that hang out here. Not a bad place overall provided your patient.
Crowded.
Really beautiful place, but jam packed, the crowd was incredibly rude to us and made us feel like we didn't belong there, great if you are a regular, not so great if you just want to catch a band.
the bartenders yelled at us for standing basically anywhere near the end of the bar but let other patrons stand there, we were told we couldn't order drinks where we were standing, so we moved, and then someone else took our spot and she served him before she even asked what we wanted, and she knew we wanted a round!!
some middleaged woman tried to start a verbal altercation with me when she litterally pushed me out of the way and took the space where i was standing.
so we moved around for the 8th time (the place isn't that big!) and finally ended up in a place which was 100times better than anywhere else there was to standing, even though every person who went by knocked my drink all over me and not one person said excuse me...
Great place for the 40+ to grab a pint, not so great for the younger crowd looking to see a bad.
