Tips for Aspen Dental

April 12, 2013

Start giving people pain meds not just aspirin, have spent close to 20,000.00 yeah that number is out of pocket and insurance and I think when you are paying for services that hurt you they should do everything they can to keep you from hurting. No I CAN NOT recommend Aspen cause all they want is your money don't care if ya hurt or not.

My 1st appointment at Aspen dental was very informative and relatively quick. I like that before you leave, they tell you exactly how much you owe for everything that needs to be done. Hardeep took her time to explain to me what was going on with my mouth and what I needed to do to improve my hygiene. I have never been to a dentist where such time is taken into explaining things. Thank you.

I've gone to Aspen for awhile for my checkups every 6 months for about two years now. The first visit was incredibly long, though now the office totes its "digital" and that supposed to make them faster, who knows. The first Dr. I saw was Dr. Mercuri, though I believe she was a good doctor, listening to the way she spoke to the employees she seems like a pretty crappy person. I asked to not be seen by her! I had two root canals and some fillings done by Dr. Rachel Clay, she was fantastic. Though her chair side demeanor was lackluster, when she was in my mouth she didn't mess around with small talk thankfully because I hate when they try to talk to me with all the equipment in my mouth! Her assistant was Amy, she's nice in the morning it seems but when I seem them in the afternoon you could tell she was ready to jet. I've seen some of the other assistants but I unfortunately don't remember names Linsdey? I think she takes my xrays every 6 months, nice, quite, but Dr. Mercuri was so rude to her on more than one visit, poor girl! I originally saw Selma for my cleanings but then she up and quit and they had to reschedule my cleaning three times before they were able to get in with Rachel the Hygienist. She is quite rude and very rough. You could hear her complaining about me being late when they took me back to her. What did she expect in the middle of construction season? I couldn't have helped it, I even called and apologized before AND after because she made me feel so bad! Asked not to see her next time too! Then I had the wonderful fortune of seeing Hardeep at my next cleaning. This woman was incredible. She was patient and gentle! She asked questions about my life not just how frequently I floss, and how and when and where (Rachel!). She is the only reason I keep coming back at this point! I don't think anyone at Aspen knows what kind of gem they found hiring her!! My only compliant is it was sooo hot in her room! You could see the sweat on her head, get the girl an AC Unit or a larger fan! Geeze! On Check out I hope and pray I get Jenn (the skinny asain one), she's so kind. The Office Manager Christine? is just plain rude. I thought the first visit and consultation with her was awful and hoped maybe it was a bad day for her but unfortunately she's just a miserable, mean person. And she doesn't have an ounce of personality or compassion for anyone. I've always wondered if she knows how far her voice travels? You can hear her complain about staff AND PATIENTS just about anywhere in the building. The nice girl at check-in desk Tiara has always been good to me, remembers my name, very calming as she knows my anxiety coming to the dentist. Kara, while nice is a bit rough around the edges. At my last visit I was sadden to find out after I got there that not only had Tiara was gone but so was Dr. Clay. :'( I got to meet Dr. Yoony?, though clearly very young, seems to have all the makings of a great Dr. I only return to see Hardeep and my insurance is accepted there. If Hardeep leaves, I would pay out of pocket to go else where. Thank you Hardeep for making me not hate the dentist!!!!!!!!

Also, just remembered this, If you have an appointment at the end of the day they always rush to get out on time so your wait times may not be as bad, but the wait times there are awful to begin with! Also, ask to charge out with Jenn especially at the end of the day or you'll get the unfortunate misfortune of seeing Christine in her gym clothes. It's not the time or place to see someone in little running shorts and a take top! If they needed you that badly, keep your clothes on and stay. I'd also recommend a no cell phone policy for her as well.

Very Confident in Aspen. I was very surprised by some of the negative reviews for Aspen Dental. I have been seeing Dr. Mercuri and Rachel (her hygienist), for over 6 years, and I couldn't be happier!

This is the only dentist I have ever been to that has taken the time to teach me how to care for my teeth at home, and cleanings are the most thorough I have ever had.

I recommend Aspen all the time!

They hurt me!. I hung in there with Aspen for quite a while. I liked the staff, I liked the facility, etc. Until one visit I saw the male dentist who stuck the novocain needle right into my jaw joint so far that he hit the bone! I was stunned. He then repeatedly inserted the needle hitting my jaw bone.

So, after that very upsetting experience, I told them that he couldn't work on me and I asked for the lady dentist (the Asian). I liked her even though she was nervous from hearing about my refusal to allow the guy from treating me. She did fine, but seemed to be quick to recommend crowns and a root canal. What do I know? I'm not a dentist. Well the crowns were very uncomfortable and to this day I doubt if they were 100% justified.

After a long run with Aspen, I checked around with co-workers and heard about Smile Designers in Endicott. Their professional service provided the necessary perspective for me to objectively review Aspen. Only after I received top-notch treatment from excellent professionals in a brand new facility did I realize how much I was treated as just another "profit unit" at Aspen.

Bottom line: I cannot recommend Aspen and if you were my friend or family member, I'd advise you to stay away...don't even consider it.

Must of went someplace I didn't. I had no problems whatsoever at Aspen. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. I had all my teeth pulled there and a full set of upper and lower denture put in the same day. 15 teeth pulled, no pain whatsoever, and I was awake the entire time. They worked around my schedule and always seemed to try to go out of the way to accomodate me. The only negative I can give is on my initial appointment I waited what seemed like an eternity to be seen. After that one though I was seen very quickly.

ignore bad reviews. I almost changed my mind because of the bad reviews, but they are all so old so I went anyway. I'm glad I ignored the old reviews. The office was great. Sweet girls at the front desk, Very outgoing girl that took my xrays and the doctors were very nice and gave me lots of information. Both of the dentists are female, one of them seems very young but boy she got rid of my achy tooth in no time with no pain because i was nummed just right.

Incompetent. Incompetent is an understatement. The Lady dentist (don't recall her name) was running two patients at a time, myself and another guy in the next chair. She was in the process of making a mold for my crown and decided to "take a break" and forgot about my impression being formed, well needless to say it set up tight by the time she got back and she couldn't get the form off my tooth no matter how hard she tried, so being the genius that she is she grabbed a set of pliers! that right i said PLIERS! and proceeded to try and remove the mold with those and , POP! she slipped and CHIPPED BOTH of my front teeth!!!..and that's just a small example, the fella doing the root canal..wow..he should be barred from practicing in the US! but that's another story...bottom line..RUN!
