42.091797 -76.088803This was the best restaurant in the area until it closed in 2009. Now they have opened a new restaurant called "The Restaurant" in the Grand Royale Hotel in binghamton, ny. It follows the same high standards as their old restaurant. Go and see is my recommendation. :-}
SERVICE WOULD BE NICE.
We out-ot-towners already created an account (apparently in invisible ink) a few months ago, but our review of Russell's was not very favorable for more than one reason. Apparently that isn't allowed to be published on line for others to see. After all, those people probably won't show up again; so why should Russell's care? The same reviews published on line before ours are still on line as 2009 begins.
We've been in Corning several times, but we know there's one restaurant that has a slim chance of getting our business. The salads were served immediately; the food was quite good; but by the time our dinners were served we all had lost our appetities - without any explanation except repeated apologies from our poor waitress that our dinners would be up "soon,' while others around us were seated and served and left before us.
Why hasn't this been published as a review? We told everything that happened from beginning to end . We would truly appreciate an answer. and we'll guarantee we won't tell other friends in your vicinity to go to Russell's, unless they really clean up their actions. (I certainly wouldn't want to be one of their service employees.)
Great atmosphere and food. I used to go to Surf and Turf when it was located down the road, and I was always impressed with the amount of food you got before dinner. (soup, veggie platter, cheese and crackers). Well that tradition continues down the road and with the new name, Russells. I was very pleased with dinner and everything before. The prime rib soup is a good as ever!!! The waiter we had was a little abrupt, and he was not the most friendly. But otherwise it was a wonderful dining experience, and I will definitely go back!!
Good food, crowded, marginal service. Food was good. Crowded place but warm atmosphere. Waiter had to be asked for drink refills. Also, waiter took dishes away without asking permission to do so. We were not finished with some of the items he took away. Crowdedness caused getting bumped into often by staff as they passed by. We will give it a try again for the food. Hopefully, this review will cause the service to improve. Thank you.
Great Restaurant and Bar. Nice restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. Also a great bar and fireplace serving a nice bar menu. Martinis are great and you can even get a great hamburg if you want in the bar. Parking is close, easy entrance. I think you'll be happy giving it a try.
Try the Pumkin Bread.
Russells Steak House is rustic, fine dining experience. 3 Large fireplaces and 5 courses of food, from beginning to end, leave you completely satisfied. I recommend saving 1/2 of your dinner for lunch, and ordering the NY Style Cheesecake, stuffed with fudge. The food is phenomenal, and the portions are bigger than anyone could eat....
It's really two meals for one. The parking lot attendant approaches the car, with a golf cart for door to door escort. My suggestions for dinner are as follows: Filet Minjon (melanaise), house potato, Italian and crumbly blue on the salad, the soup and pumpkin bread comes automatically, and the dinner is even topped with a chocolate chip cookie. But take that home and order the NY style cheesecake, stuffed with fudge.
