How do these people stay in business???. I have been both of Vancott's locations; in Vestal and at the Mall a few times. I was UNIMPRESSED with both stores. Besides the PRICE SWITCHING that was mentioned by another reviewer, the high pressured sales, UPSELLING and OVERPRICED items both stores offer turned me right off. I have been to both locations multiple times, and I am stunned they remain in business!!! I absolutely recommend you shop COMFORT & SONS on Vestal Parkway before buying anything at Vancott's!!

Price Switching at it's best!. I've been looking at a particular engagement ring with a matching band @ VanCotts. I asked them to give me a price on a particular diamond to be set into the ring. It took them over a MONTH to finally get back to me with a price. Our salesperson, we'll call her 'Shabbey', knew what budget I was working with for both the ring/diamond/band...proceded to show me a diamond, that alone was $800 higher than what I wanted to spend for everything. And I had a fairly high budget. Shabbey and Birdie (the owner) were unable to procure no other diamonds. So, I purchased the ring/diamond elsewhere.

Shabbey told me to come back and buy the band at thier wedding band sale, and that I would save anywhere from 10-15% on the band. (at least I could save some money that way) I went back to the store the day of the band sale to see about a better price. I was about floored with what they told me. The sticker price clearly labeled on the band, all of the five times I went in to look at it previously was $1675. The day of the sale, I was told the regular (sticker price) of the band is $2200 and with the sale discount I can buy it for $1900.

I was told by the sales person that they don't change the sticker prices on their display items to account for the changes in gold pricing. Which led me to ask, soooo...The price on the sticker is no good, and you would change the price on me when it came time to pay for it because of gold pricing fluctuations? They were speechless. The price on the sticker is the price you pay at the register. If the price stickers need to be changed, then do it! Don't tell me the sticker price on the product is no good because of price fluctuations when I'm ready to purchase! Shabbey conveniently couldn't remember the sticker price on the band when I was talking to her about it. She got frustrated with my questioning, waved me off and walked away from me.

Needless to say, Vancott lost $10,000 in business from me on these two rings. I'll never step foot in there again. I'd suggest you shop elswhere as well.

Not very professional. Customer service is okay, prices are high, and staff has turnover. Bought a beautiful ring from them but the customer service wasn't that great, plus I think some of the prices are inflated. Wouldn't be a loyal customer...starting to turn into a chain I think.

Wonderful Service. I'm a first time customer and had a great time looking at all the settings at Van Votts Jewelers. My Fiance wanted to upgrade my engagement ring into a new halo setting. After looking at several stores Van Cott had the best settings. The woman at the counter cleaned my ring for free when i was purchasing my setting. I've never seen my center diamond shine so much! I'm getting the ring tomorrow and i know I'm going to love it.

Wonderful place to shop. My fiance bought my engagement ring from Van Cott Jewelers in the Town Square Mall and had a wonderful experience with the customer service that he received! Upon receiving my amazing ring, Van Cott was quick to congratulate us on our engagement when we came in to have our ring sized. Two other people from my fiances place of employment have gone there to purchase their engagement rings as well! I would suggest to anyone that they go to Van Cott Jewelers?you will not be disappointed!

They pride themselves on quality jewelery with superior customer service...and have been voted the #1 jeweler in the Southern Tier by the Press Sun Bulletin newspaper 23 years in a row. They have two locations- in the Oakdale Mall and the Town Square Mall.

These stores have wonderful staffs of professional goldsmiths, gemologists and sales people- a real full-service, old fashioned retail store.

Worst Jewelery Store Around!. This has to be the worst jewelery store around. The service is the absolute worst! Once they have your money you can forget getting any kind of decent service out of you. Don't buy a product with a lifetime warranty...They change their policies with the wind. First one thing isn't covered, then another! Make sure you get everything in writing! Better yet, just don't buy anything from them!
