Tips for Wilcox Towing & Automotive Repair

April 14, 2013

Horrible business, avoid Wilcox at all cost. They towed my car early Saturday morning and when I called them they refused to let me get my car over the weekend because nobody was working, even though they had people towing cars. Denied having my car at all until I mentioned I confirmed that they did twice with Vestal Police Department. Absolutely rude on the phone, cursed me out and hung up when I asked how much extra the weekend would cost. No idea how much it will cost yet, but they already left an awful taste in my mouth.

Hundreds of dollars to pull my daughters car out of the ditch , after sliding off Pierce Hill Rd. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

Run for the Hills!. Horrible! Absolute thieves and liars!!!

I never heard of them but only because my emergency roadside assistance contacted these guys to tow my stalled car. They take advantage of your vulnerable situation of being stranded. They will charge you whatever they want and claim that they called the dealership to get the best price available for you. What are you supposed to say? I'll take my stalled car and go do some price comparison? This is the only indy shop i've dealt with that actually charges more than the dealership (and that's by a mile too!). Then they will lie about it and say that no one at the shop ever got the quote from the dealership and calls me a liar! I would only have known this because I felt really cheated and ended up calling the dealership myself. I wonder how many more people have been cheated by these dishonest thugs! Only if I've seen these sites first :(

Its ok. My husband got into a car accident after hours, this was the cop that arrived choice to call Wilcox. They took about an hour to respond which was pretty quick considering the roads were extremely icy. My car was there for over a month and the bill had yet to be payed by the insurance company, the owner called me to inform me of this, I in returned called and it was taken care of within a couple of days, but did not charge me for any storage fees, told me he wasn't worried about it. Not close to my home but would use them again.

I don't Know how They Sleep at Night. My car was towed from a parking lot an hour before I came to pick it up. When I called immediately after they would not give me the location of my car or let me pick it up because it was a sunday and they were closed (even though they were towing vehicles?) Not only would they not tell me where MY CAR was being held, they were some of the rudest and most inconsiderate people I have ever spoken to. I was charged $300 for being towed from a Subway Parking lot...and an extra $50 for the day that I was not "allowed" to pick up my car. How convienent for them!

They are the biggest rip off, I don't know how they call themselves a business charging customers not only an arm and a leg but treating them like garbage at the same time. They are just out to make a buck and gouge people for as much money as possible with out an ounce of ethics or common sense.

Call DicksTowing, much better customer service and extremely reasonable prices!

NOT TO MENTION: They only let you pay in cash, no checks or credit cards which to me means something shady is going on!!

$100 a mile: Avoid Wilcox Towing At All Costs. This outfit takes advantage of its "customers" and should be avoided at all costs, because the costs will extraordinarily steep. The owner, who was parked behind his desk with apparently little to do, defended his price gouging practices by proclaiming that he's been doing it that way for "sixty years."

Wilcox will charge the absolute most it can, under apparently any circumstance, including a stiff "storage fee" that is a joke considering that its storage premises consist of a weedy lot in a struggling part of Upstate New York.

The owner has no concept of customer service and appears poised to take advantage of any circumstance he can. While the vehicle repair business appears straightforward enough, there are so many other, better car repair businesses in the Vestal-Binghamton area that there is no rational reason to voluntarily choose Wilcox. Without the towing franchise likely the vehicle repair would go out of business.

The bottom line is that Wilcox, owner and company, makes what it can off the misery of others - a vehicle accident requiring a tow, or a disabled car or truck. They would rather not act in a way that would attract repeat customers, but instead take care of themselves at the expense of those unlucky enough to need a tow. Following are more rputable towing firms in this region:

Dcks, 724-9567 (I've used these guys; very professional)

Klock, 692-4111

Airborne 748-4090 (repair capability, also)

KRS, 797-7999

An absolute joke. Never ever again.. I wanted my car towed 2 miles. It took 6 hours and they charged me 95 dollars... About 6 months ago I had my car towed 15 miles by somebody else (can't remember who) and it was done in less then 2 hours for $70. By "Wilcox Towing" standards that tow would have come to $675 and it would have taken 45 hours.

WHAT... A... JOKE...
